Common Questions And Their Answers

Do students need an ID? Youth students do not need an ID to register for classes, but they do need to have obtained their permit by the first week of class.

How many days before class starts can a student get their permit? If a student’s WDL number is provided to the office in advance of the class, a waiver will be entered that enables them to obtain the permit 10 days before the class starts.

Is there an age requirement for the knowledge exam? Yes, you must be 15 years and 6 months old before you can take the knowledge exam unless you have passed a driver’s education course.

How old does my child need to be to take the Driver’s Ed class? Our youth students need to be at least 15 years old by the start of the class.

Is there a time limit for the knowledge test? There is no time limit to complete the test, however, you must finish the exam by the end of office hours.

What are the testing hours? Testing begins as soon as we open the office, test registration ends one hour before we close to allow adequate time to complete the test.

Do I have to take a class before I take the Skill Test? That depends on your age, if you are under 18 years old then you must complete a Driver’s Ed program before you schedule the Skills Exam. If you are 18 years or older, you do not have to take a class to take the skills exam.

When can I schedule a Skill Test? A skill test can only be scheduled after the knowledge exam is passed.
